San Francisco, 1951

RP: The evacuation map of San Francisco comes from a Civil Defense booklet entitled "It's Your Life...The San Francisco Plan," published 1951 by the San Francisco Disaster Council and Corps. This was produced locally but followed Federal civil defense guidelines and local surveys prepared by the federal government. I believe this booklet was distributed to all households in the city.
